COUNSELLING
I work with all kinds of people, for all kinds of reasons, and I’ve found that it’s very rare for people just to want to talk about one particular issue.
The main focuses of my practice are working with trauma, and also with working with people experiencing disordered eating and eating disorders. I have particular experience and insight in working with people in bigger bodies who are, or have, experienced disordered eating and eating disorders. This is a really specific experience, often misunderstood and under-represented in recovery environments, and it’s my privilege to commit to this work with clients. People I see have often specifically come to my for identity affirming work, often incorporating an understanding of systemic/structural issues and oppression dynamics.
Themes that regularly occur in my work include: transitions and change, boundaries, existential crisis and meaning, self care and self neglect, feeling stuck, feeling rigid, perfectionism, burnout, loneliness, allowing rest, ease and softness, navigating an oppressive world, fat identity and celebration, body respect, trusting inner wisdom, values work, reconnecting with self, choosing non-mainstream ways of being, self acceptance, building a sustainable and satisfying life, choosing joy, finding a personal meaning… and being human.
What I offer through counselling is:
A confidential space; a place in which to be listened;
A boundaried environment where your autonomy is respected;
An empathic, non-directive experience, where the pace and focus is set by you;
A warm and inviting environment, to acknowledge the difficulties or challenges that have brought you to counselling, and to feel supported as we work through them;
Professional, qualified and experienced competencies that you can trust.
All my work is currently online, with day and evening sessions available.
ONLINE
My work online is a great way to connect with me if you live in a different location, and my experience is that we’re able to have just as useful and relational an experience as if we were meeting in person.
